My name is David Ferrell
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and Certified Addictions Counselor, Level 3, both for the state of Colorado. I have over 25 years of experience in the mental health field, have worked in various agencies and had my own private practice. I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology at Brigham Young University, my master’s degree in counseling at the University of Texas at El Paso, and another master’s degree in business administration at Colorado State University. I work with adults, teens and older children. I enjoy my work as a therapist and am always humbled when my clients trust me with some of the most important challenges they face. I provide marriage therapy, parent coaching, anxiety management, and depression healing. I also specialize in recovery from grief, loss, trauma, and addictions. I have successfully worked with most types of behavioral, emotional and interpersonal problems that people endure.
As you now pursue professional counseling you are taking an essential step towards healing and thriving. By having an experienced and encouraging therapist accompany you along the way to dissolve roadblocks that keep you stuck, you increase your chance for success, you make fewer errors, saving time and energy along your journey. My approach to counseling is to assess the source of your struggles and help you develop awareness and skills to solve your own problems so that you can repeat these solutions as you face new challenges in the future.
All behavior and emotions are purposeful and serve a positive purpose, even though they may be uncomfortable and even destructive, like addictions, habits, anxiety, and depression. When these behaviors and emotions are respected for the way they helped you up to now, replacing or refining them becomes more natural and easier!
