Hi, I’m Krista Haws
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I want to take a moment to commend you for taking a difficult step, considering therapy. Before I get to my training and specialties, I want to say no technique matters as much as the connection you have with your therapist! I truly love and admire my clients and try to see things from their perspectives. My focus is to help in the ways my clients want or need, in a nonjudgmental, supportive way. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work in this field.
I have seen so much good and resiliency in my clients; I marvel at their ability to take on difficult things and come out stronger at the end.
I am trained in a few modalities to help and get the most satisfaction out of life. I believe disconnection with yourself, significant others, community, your higher power, peers, etc lead to most of our problems in life. My belief is that figuring out our attachment patterns and disconnections can help increase life satisfaction and decrease pain.
I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), level I and ll as well as an EMDRIA member, working towards certification. I am also fully trained in sexual addiction recovery through the American Association for Sex Addiction Therapy (AASAT). I use a number of techniques around attachment and Neuropsychology, depending on my client’s needs. Some of those are Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), tapping, journaling, nutrition, exercise, yoga, Bibliotherapy, and podcasts. I work with adults, adolescents, couples and families.
I was born and raised in the Bay Area of California, which is a wonderfully diverse area of the country and moved to the Denver, CO area in 2017. I received my Masters of Science (MS) in Clinical Psychology in 2005 from San Jose State University. I am also licensed in both California and Colorado. I have been working in the field for 17 years and licensed for 9 years. I have experience with sexual addictions, depressive disorders, anxiety issues, big and little traumas, PTSD, ADHD, adjustment problems, family dynamics/interpersonal problems, various health issues and the effect on mental health, as well as Oppositional Defiant/Conduct disorder issues.
Just for fun, a little more “personal” stuff about me. I’m a type 1 diabetic and I learn so much through my struggles. I am passionate about all kinds of health and it’s effects on ALL areas of life! I love the outdoors and nature, cooking and crafts of all kinds. I have been married 10 years to an amazing husband who does his best to care for himself and our family everyday. I have two little girls I love dearly, who are strong, spirited girls! I have struggles in my marriage and with my kids, just like anyone else. I love to learn new things and try to be better while being kind to myself. I feel fortunate to have the chance to use my skills daily to try and help my family. I’m excited to help you too!
