My name is Michaela Standhart and I am a Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate. Therapy has always been an important part of my life. When I was a child, my mother encouraged my brother and I to attend therapy in order to gain an unbiased perspective on life’s challenges. My own positive experiences in therapy sparked my desire to help others cultivate healthy relationships and live authentically.
I am passionate about my work
and dedicated to growing alongside my clients.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I uphold that relationships are vital to human health and well-being. Research shows that healthy relationships help us better cope with stress and even live longer. However, many of us lack good relationship role models. My goal is to help my clients navigate their closest relationships through self-awareness, open communication, healthy boundaries, and mutual respect. I feel blessed, humbled, and honored to have witnessed relationships transformed throughout the therapy process.
On a more personal note, I grew up in rural upstate New York. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Elmira College and then my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Syracuse University. I have experience working with individuals, couples, and families struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, relationship dysfunction, and infidelity. In my free time I enjoy hiking, reading, cooking, and spending time with loved ones and my adorable puppy.
